I am loading windows xp on my hard drive, now when loading the different files and folders, it states, 30 minutes, 22, minutes,19 minutes ,etc before a certain file or segment of windows xp will be loaded. Even though mine says that, it is really taken 8 or 9 hours to load one part. Is this right? I have been loading this since 4:00 yesterday. It is still not finished, It was loading all through the night. is there a problem here.

Sounds like it did not load the setup program poroperly....like smartdrv failed to load. Something is definately wrong here. What are your specs on machine?

DUDe, lol...... something definitely wrong there. Xp setup should take no more than 45 mins on average. Check the disk, check your media player. Chances are it's one of those two. That is if your not getting windows error stating some bad configuration.

This is my setup. i have a 1.3 mghz athlon processor, 1 gb of sdram pc 133. I have a hard drive and I was playing my cd withh the dvd rom. Should i go through command prompt and format. Earlier when I wanted to delete the partition, it wouldn't allow to delete because it said that windows xp[ installation folder WAS in use, which I didn't understand, but I told it to go ahead and load anyway.

Do i need to go through command prompt first. a virus is on my hard drive earlier so I was trying to perform a clean install

R u booting from CD?? That is the only way to get a clean install. Unless u have a image somewhere? Just follow the procedures on the Xp setup disk when prompted. It will ask to whether u want to creat a partition or delete one. No need for running the command prompt.

I get the feeling your tryig to run xp within xp to setup?? am i correct??
