I locked up my liteon drive while trying to flash it. For some reason the drive closed and I didn't notice it. I tried flashing it while it was closed and I assume this is what bricked it. Is there a way to unlock it? It will not open at all. I've tried to use dosflash but it does not seem to work. Any help?

Well, I guess I did it wrong then. The end result is that I can't open it now and I can't find anywhere that it shows how to unlock it. I can erase it but when I go to write it in dos flash it just locks up when it says it is erasing..... Is there a magical way to unlock this drive or is it a paper weight? I have the three files... Key.bin Inquiry.bin and the identify.bin so there must be a way to fix it isn't there?

well consider that it maybe be an issue with your SATA controller... i wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the drive is bricked until you at least try a few more options ...

try a different SATA controller, perhaps try it on a different computer... the first computer i had mine hooked up to couldn't flash it so i tried a different computer with the nvidia motherboard and it flashed just fine...

I recently experienced the same thing ( yesterday). I think the above poster is correct. My problem was a sata issue and also a portio32 problem. My drive was completely unresponsive, would not eject and sometimes locked up the computer. Go to hardware manager and uninstall your sata driver and delete the portio drivers.Restart. Cancel the Hardware wizard looking for a Sata driver. MANUALLY install the portio32 drivers, DO NOT USE THE AUTO INSTALLER VERSION. Maximus games has a link to a tut for manually installing the portio32. Restart. COnnect liteon and load jungle flasher. Click liteon erase. Then click erase. Change to firmtool tab, load your dummy with the 3 needed files, load the 1.5liteon iextreme as target. Go back to market flash and click write. Should work fine. Goodluck.

If you think it is bricked it i NOT. Can't brick them. This is what i did. I had to use dos.
Make the bootable disk/usb drive. you have to use dos to fully erase and reprogram it. IT will come back to life i messed up 3 times on the same drive and recovered all 3 times.
Looks like you need to use iprep v8. you need the file L-O-eras.exe.look for that and all will be well. If at first it doesn't give you the 72 keep hitting f3 key and enter till it does. If after 10 tries and no luck reboot and try again. While it reboots turn of the mod chip then unplg the sata cable then plug the sata cable back in then turn on and it should do it.
