Alot of my games that I have loaded on my 500gb USB have been locking up after say 10-15 minutes of gameplay. I have also gotten the black screen a couple times. Not sure where to start as far as diagnosing my problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! It's probably a loaded question with lots of answers, but maybe I could check the most common ones....
nwahs000 Have you checked the compatibility list for hd drives http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php?title=USB_Devices_Compatibility_List Might be wrong but that's what it sounds like to me. Hope this helps.
Unfortuantly my drive isn't listed. I'm looking for some other opinions before I go and buy a different external drive. Also if anybody has any opinions on cheap drives that work well?
first, make sure your usb loader is updated; i recommend configurable usb loader v54. also, make sure you at least have cIOS38_rev17 installed. otherwise, it could be an incompatable drive. i've been using a 2.5" vantec nexstar CX enclosure with a 320gig western digital scorpio black for over a year now, and no problems.
It sounds to me like the auto spin down is not turned off. Install the software for the drive go into its settings and turn the auto spin down to "Never" and you should be good to go.
Anybody know how to do this. I went to the website and the site says there is no drivers for this drive(Simpledrive Pininfarina 500gb). Also I did the instructions that cee43ja1 said to do but now the games lock up right away versus playing for awhile and then locking up? helllppppppp.......
Well today the games booted up again. Playing a few hole into Tiger Woods 2010 and everything's going good, it's loading between holes just fine and the hard drive light on top is blinking but then right around hole 5 the lights stop and the game locks up? I'm thinking USB drive is just not compatible? Thanks...
Ya sounds like the drive is going into sleep mode, but if theres no software for the drive to turn off sleep then i dunno :/
Thanks for all the help. Decided it must be the USB drive so I went and bought a WD 320gb Portable Elements and it worked like a charm. Played my first 18 holes and no luck. Hopefully I have continued success.
