I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere, I did search. And thanks in advance for any assistance. I just bought an LG DVD rewriter. I am trying to make backup copies of some DVDs that I own using dvd Decrypter (v 3.5.4.0). I have read the guides on Decrypter, and am pretty sure I am doing it right. I used File2ISO to make an ISO to burn onto disk, but in trying to burn I get the message "Logical unit not ready, cause not reportable". I have tried this on 2 different computers. Same problem. Also, I exchanged the rewriter, got a new one, same problem. Any suggestions? Walrog
That is the error message Decryter normally gives me when I start it without a dvd in the drive. Any more details? Log file maybe?
I may have found the problem myself, reading the log file... Here is the log file. "I 21:32:33 DVD Decrypter Version 3.5.4.0 started! I 21:32:33 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) W 21:32:34 Drive E:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB I 21:32:34 Initialising SPTI... I 21:32:34 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 21:32:54 Found 1 CD-RW, 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD-RAM/±RW!" I think the problem may be that the file is greater than 4 GB. If so, I saw somewhere else that there is a way to change your drive from FAT32, and I can find that. Otherwise, not sure what other specs are needed for me to provide. I am not the most computer literate person in the world... walrog
i mean your sys specs but i dont think you can burn well with fat32 if your stuck with a fat32 os ie win 98 98se me try updating your firm ware but your specs would still be nice
Do you have more than one hard drive? If so, you should/could use the second hard drive to rip to, and format it as NTFS (if you can). I would not convert from FAT32 to NTFS lightly without a safety net (back-up) since you state you aren't very computer literate. What you could do, regardless of your hard drives format is use FILE mode to rip, and use 1 GB file size option. Post your whole log file here, please. We can't see what we can't er..um..see. We have a plethora of experts here!
What I posted was the entire log file. I have already successfully copied the dvd onto my hard drive, and I dont have that file saved. I was wrong on my last guess as to the problem. My primary drive is NTFS. I have a secondary drive that is FAT32, but I was not using it in ripping/burning. Not sure what all you want on specs...but here goes: Mircosoft XP home edition, Pentium 4, 1.69 Ghz, 128 Meg ram. Decrypter 3.5.4.0. Ripped using decrypter, then converted to ISO using File2ISO. What else? Walrog
Whoa, why are you using anything but Decrypter? Decrypter in Read ISO mode makes your ISO file, then use Decrypter in Write ISO mode to burn. There is no need to convert it. Am I missing something?
DVD Decrypter under 'Tools' -> 'Settings' -> 'Events' and enable the option 'On Exit - Save the Log'. Select a place where you want the log to be saved. You can also decide if you want the program to overwrite the old log file or just add it the one that exists. [bold] When you start Decrypter it is assuming a disk to be ripped, or a disk to be burned is in the DVD drive. The message you are seeing is indicative of no disk or a disk your burner doesn't "see" (like)[/bold] From Decrypter forum : http://forum.digital-digest.com/archive/topic/49402-1.html Posted by: cynthia Device not ready: I was able to read save an image file for a DVD i'm hoping to burn, However, when i'm bout to write it (eg. Mode==>ISO ==>Write). The following appears(after some loading time), Device not ready (Logical Unit not ready, Cause not reportable) Could it be cheap media? Solution: Yup, it would suggest cheapo media your drive doesnt support properly / at all. I hope this helps =)
I am using Verbatim +R disks. They are a recommended type by the manufacturer of my DVD drive. The reason that I use File2ISO is that it is the recommended procedure in a guide that I found here. Here is the link. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burn_dvd_folder_dvd_decrypter.cfm Here is the log. I 05:36:38 DVD Decrypter Version 3.5.4.0 started! I 05:36:38 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) W 05:36:38 Drive E:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB I 05:36:38 Initialising SPTI... I 05:36:38 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 05:36:39 Found 1 CD-RW, 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD-RAM/±RW! I 05:38:43 Close Request Acknowledged I 05:38:43 Closing Down... I 05:38:43 Shutting down SPTI... I 05:38:43 DVD Decrypter closed! Still lost, Walrog
