I have been experiencing long burning and coping times. It sometiems takes 3 hours to copy a DVD disc. I have a compaq amd 3500 with 1 gig of memory. When I start my burns or coping I walk away from my computer so that it burns correctly. A few months ago it only took me 5 minutes to burn a disc with my compaq. I am not sure what the problem is!!!

    Hi retro80s
Check and make sure all your drives are in DMA mode & not the slooow PIO mode. Check under 'current transfer mode' & make sure says something like 'ultra dma mode 4'.
    Here's a guide if needed:

Do a disc cleanup and a system defrag too if you haven't recently.

Thanks so much for you help. After running the Nero info tool, I discovered that DMA is off on my DVD burner. And I had 2 copies of Primary and 2 copies of secondary in the IDE section.

    You're welcome :)
The burner in PIO will make a differnce. Once it's back in DMA you should be good to go.
