I used to have a program that allowed me to be able to take friends ipods and hook them up to my computer so I could get some of their music. the program had an alian that popped up and I forgot the name of it. or I am looking for a program that will allow me to do this!

http://www.ephpod.com/. Ephpod is one of the utilities to copy songs from an iPod to a comp. I usually use this one for my 4G (Grayscale) iPod, and it works great. However, this may not work for some new ipods. Another is vPod. It doesn't work with iPods updated with version 7.3, but it is a widely used program. http://www.vonnieda.org/vPod/

you will need to have a 3rd party tool to help you as itunes blocks the ipod-to-computer transfer...see ipod to computer for help.

Sorry to say it this way but you guys are all being silly. You dont need a program to be able to copy songs from an iPod. All you have to do is do to your control panel and under folder options activate the "show hidden files and folders" option. Once this is done and you open your iPod file you will notice that there are two or maybe more hidden files. Open the biggest one and inside shoud be all the songs. However, they will not appear under thier name but instead they will appear as four letter codes. However, as soon as you open them or copy them to itunes , it will recognize the codes and convert them into the song name artist and tiles. From there you have the songs and can copy them (with info) to other areas. All of this without extra software.

Please take note that if the songs come from a homebrew source, such as from the radio, they will likely not come with any data such as artist and song title so itunes or MP wont be able to recognize it. This means that you will only have a four letter title for your song and nothing else.
