Hey, folks, I'm new to this whole DVD backup deal. My first goal is to pin down the right DVD writer for me.

Now, after reading information and countless threads about DVD-R vs DVD+R, I've decided that I want a writer with compatibility for both - and +. Actually, that's going to be one of my prerequisites. I know there are a number of users here who might try to convince me to just go with DVD-R/RW only, but I DO have my reasons for wanting to use both formats (though I won't do into detail about them here - the reasons are irrelevant to this thread).

I've tried the search feature to look up information on good DVD writers that will write both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW, but with little luck... maybe I just haven't dug hard enough? The only model I found to have had promise for this was the Pioneer DVR-106. However, after reading about DVD+R writing problems and picky media compatibility issues with the writer, I don't know if I want it or not.

I know many of you have almost infinite wisdom on this subject, so I now ask - what is a good DVD writer that will write well to both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW? Here are a couple other requirements I've made:

    - Not cost more than $200 USD
    - Writes to both DVD-R and DVD+R at 4x speeds

If there is any such DVD writer that will fill my desires, I would so greatly appreciate any help in finding one. I'll answer other questions if needed, as well.

Thanks ahead for any help! :)
