I was looking at the Visiontek HD 650 or Hauppage 1600.I wanted something with a fm reception and the HD for the future. If I have 1 or 2 channels that come in HD from my cable provider will I be able to pick them up?Is clear Qam enabled on these cards?,can't tell.

Don't raelly know what ATSC Digital TV is or Clear Qam is.

I have a leadtek now,but the cable connector snapped off at the solder and the picture short's in and out now.Tried to resolder it,but can never get a strong solder connection,it keeps breaking away.

Any Ideas, suggestions on a good TV Tuner Card would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I don't know much about Tv tuners/capture cards, but i have an ATI Tv Wonder 650 Usb and it has great quality. But i only use it to record my games in stuff, not for TV.

Sounds a little unbiased don't you think? Not ALL ATI tv tuner products are bad, in fact they are probably some of the best around. You should go with the Visiontek HD 650, that's the one i have and its amazing. But again, i dont use it for TV i only use it for recording gameplay.

I don't care for recording at the moment, just want to watch and try the whole HD thing and check it out..Hopefully I can get some HD channels through the cable.Even maybe try one of those HD indoor ant.

Any suggestions on antenas or HD would be appreciated.

    Thanks

If it's the WinTV-HVR-1600, that would be a decent card. I don't own it but I own the pvr150 which looks very similar to the 1600. Both of them have "hardware mpeg encoders".

Whatever you get make sure it does have a "hardware mpeg encoder", they do all the work of processing the video, and also bypasses the computers soundcard. Everything (video/sound) gets processed by the tuners hardware encoder.

In my computer I have 3x PVR150 installed and can record 3 different programs in the background and watch a dvd movie all at the same time. If your tuner card only has "software encoding" everything is process by the "cpu".
