hi folks, I've been recording some of my gameplay, thinking of starting a blog and a youtube series, and I need an editor for video that will do a few specific things; in my other experiences I have YET to find an editor simple enough for the job. basically the only thing I want to do for a start is edit my video and then be able to export it in the same quality that I imported it with. for example, I have a high quality vid that clocks in slightly over 1gb of space. I want to cut this video in half, and then export the halves in the SAME quality I recorded them. that's it. I have yet to find an editor that can perform an action as simple as that, as camtasia, windows movie maker and most other editors change the framerate, the format, and all manner of other things upon exporting your video. any recommendations would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.
VirtualDub and AviDemux can edit video. If no filters are used (like resizing or cropping) then the file is saved without encoding - thus no change in quality. Selecting a clip and saving it requires no filters. (in VirtualDub, the video is set for 'Direct Stream Copy' in AviDemux the video is set as 'Copy')
Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD and videoredo are both frame accurate and can do the trim thing. They can edit video very well because of their smart rendering which leads to maximum quality preservation. I'm using womble and I like its batch export function, back to the framerate change, this will not happen in womble.
thanks for the replies so far folks, I will give these options a shot and if it works out I'll close up the thread with a confirmation and another thankyou, peace for now guys.
