I have been using Nero for years and liked it and had no problem. When I bought a new computer and was forced to go to Vista and started using Nero 8, Nero would arbitrarily squish some of my DVD+_R captures from 4:3 to 16:9 and even to .625:1. I bought Nero 9 shortly thereafter and it did the same to many of my DVDR recordings though not all. The knowledgable folks at Nero charged my credit card just to tell me they didn't know what was up. Yes, I put the settings on 4:3 and I have re-installed the Nero many times. When I play the squished MPEG conversions on Nero Showtime they are in the proper perspective as with all of my other playback programs! Its just when they are in Nero Vision they get squished. I have purchased Roxio 2009 (much running problems) Corel 2009, and Sony Vegas 2009 and found that they have no DVD R capture. Is there some other reputable software program that allows you to capture DVD+R and DVD-R recording intact? Thank you fine folks in advance for any suggestions.
If you have a minDVD camcorder, I have no clue why you would be capturing, at all. You don't need to. You simply finalize your miniDVD, in your camcorder, then COPY the files to your hard drive, and use your editing software to edit them. If using Roxio Creator 2009, open VideoWave (Edit Video-Advanced), and bring in the files from the Video_TS folder, on your hard drive. Piece of cake.
I have DVD+R's of my 16mm films I have telecined and of old tv shows that I transfered from VHS. I wish to edit some and make compilations but the Nero keeps squishing them when I capture the mpegs from DVD+R. I went to Sony Vegas and saw I could access my DVD drive and did see those files, but there were several files and I hadn't a clue which to use if any. I will tweak around with what you told me and I appreciate your answer.
The best program for editing dvd's is videoredotvsuite. That's all I use, it won't change a 4:3 to 16:9. The finished dvd will be the same quality as the original.
