we have a .mp3 (2channel) audio file, we believe it began life as a 5.1 that was "downmixed" to 2channel. We would like to "fix/up-mix?" this back to the orginal 5.1 config." I'm told it suffers from--channel swapping/switching<--but I haven't really noticed(haven't really paid THaT close attention. If there's any really smart peeps
out there willing to walk us though this process...WE NEED YOU..and thanks for you attention. P.S. also help in demuxing a .aac audio from a .mp4 would be nice as well :)

I just thought hmmmmmm meant he was "thinking" about the problem :) not just post count padding.

    don't believe I'll need AVI_Mux...it's already "demuxed" .mp3 audio..
i've been researching it myself to no avail...I understand How to seperate the 2 channels into 6 channels with Besweet. But i don't want to do a "hack" job on this...we believe it was 'muxed' up (sorry can help it) when someone converted a 5.1 6-channel to 2 channel..we would like to try to "fix" this(though I don't see how)
it's the how to split the right frequences and where to send them, etc that's got me really worred.
    MatrixMixer?

I have the following tools available:
    Besweet
    Sound Forge
    Audition
    surcode dVD DTS
surcode dolby plug-in for ppro 1.5(only 2 trials left)

You can do it with graph edit and intervideos prologic dsp effect. You can use a Winvideo trial to get the dsp effect, and graph edit is in many codec packs. You may still be able to get graph edit from the microsoft page.
