Hello, I'm looking for a real good video joiner. Currently, I have Xilisoft Video Editor and that has a joiner, splitter and cutter. I'm not able to join two videos. I have tried with mp4 YouTube videos that I downloaded (not sure any of you are familiar with Firefox's YouTube Downloader and being able to download Youtube videos in mp4 format). I convert these videos to xvid avi and they work well. It is just that joining them using xilisoft hasn't worked and I've tried with joinging two videos, with eight different video files so far and never has worked
Generally, the files to be joined need to have the same frame rate, codec, resolution and audio. Either the joining program makes all the changes behind the scenes or you have to do it - which usually means one of the files has to be encoded. Either MediaInfo or GSpot will tell you all the properties of the file. Assume that one file is: Frame rate: 25 fps Codec: XviD/DivX Resolution: 576x320 Audio:mp3 If the other differs from these properties, one of the files has to change.
Yea, I forgot to mention that. Both vdeo files are same format, everything, and it still doesn't join. That's what I find stange. I have to mention that it does say on the readme file of the xilisoft program, that itcan join video files of diffeent formats
A good video joiner is womble mpeg video wizard dvd. That's what I use, it can join different file formats. It won't join flv's, but it has no problem joining mp4's/xvid/mpegs. It will also join different formats at the same time, you can join an mp4 to a mpeg. The mp4's I use are the ones I downloaded from youtube, womble works good with those videos.
Downloaded womble mpeg video wizard dvd and have spent some time playing with it, but can't finout how to get two or more video files and join them. Can you tell me the easy way to do that, this program is pretty complex
You could try Avidemux, it is free. I always use it when I have an AVI/Divx that comes in 2 or more parts.
Fire up Avidemux. Go to File->Open. Select the first video. Depending on the source, you might get some message(like rebuild index, or unpack bitstream...). Just say yes. Go back to File->Append, and browse to the second video, the one you want to join. Repeat and add all the parts. When done, go to File->Save->Save Video, and give the new video a name, including the extension(eg. new_vid.avi)
I've done that twice, as what I'm about to explain happened the first time. What happened is that the resulting file was not avi, but actually identified as type "file". How do I make the resulting file the same format as the videos I used to make it? The ones I used were xvid avi
That's because you probably did not add the extension .avi when you saved the file. Just rename it and add .avi.
