ok now this may sound pretty noobish, but I can't help it cuz I simply just don't know. Now when I copy a dvd, shrink it then burn it to a dvd, then after that make another copy from the first burnt disc will there be any loss of quality if there is no shrinking involved just burning?

If there should be any lost in quality,it would be after you have shrinked and copied it from the original dvd, because of the compression(compresing a DVD-9/dual layer to a DVD-5/single layer). But if you just make another copy from the first copy, then you don't need to make any compression/shrink,so the quality of the second copy would be same as the first copy. But now it depends which media you're using to make the second copy,or any of your copy because sometimes if you don't use quality media like TY or Verbatim for example, there can be some quality difference in the second copy from the first one.So if you're using some cheap and crappy medias, you can expect everything to happen, but not when you use top quality medias.

Well,if you still have the original DVD,i would suggest you to do the shrink and copy process again instead of making another copy from the first copy you already made. But if you no more have the original with you and that the first copy plays well without any problem and without any big visible loss in quality, then you can use that same copy to remake a copy using the sony media,it would definitely not make quality worst, but it would not make the quality become better neither.

Good quality medias are TY medias and Verbatim.Sony too is good media but is best when it's made by Taiyo Yuden.

They will only be Taiyo Yuden if they are MIJ's (made in Japan)
