ok i'm confused , i thought a wav. file was lossless??
so why would i use Flac or monkey audio? i'm backing up my cd's tonight 250 of them. got two 120 gig hard drives so space is not a problem. also when i rip a original cd to flac or monkey file to a cd-r and then rip a mp3 from the cd-r will the flac or monkey audio always stay the same quality after several rips? sorry if confusing but i plan on starting this project tonight and want to make sure i am getting the best quality files. also is it possible to use flac or monkey audio with EAC and how do you set it up. thanks guys

wav is uncompressed, flac and ape is compressed but no data is loss. i use flac for all my cd rips. my collection is little so i got the space.

    like bitmap and png.
    and jpg is the mp3

of course the flac will stay the same, did you meant the mp3 encoded from flac will be equal to the mp3 encoded from wav. i don't think it will, if speaking from every 010101 (binary) or hex, but it will be the same. i've taken a look a flac decoded back to wav, its the same, but not every zeros and one, its there, but not exactly alike 100% maybe 99.5%

not sure if it will use with eac, but why ?
