Sorry for double posting- I figured this was the right forum instead of general discussion to post this serious problem, please forgive me.-- I ran fixboot since my maxtor 200gb hard drive wasn't booting before and then I got another error mentioning a missing NTLDR. I connected the drive as a secondary drive now to a working hdd and explorer showed that the drive was converted back to FAT from NTFS and now only 10mb is the size of the hdd and I've lost ALL my work and everything!! Can someone please help resolve this.
So which ones do I download etc? edit-- Well I've already got Recover My Files EXTREMELY lenghty processes, I mean DAYS
Problem with recover my files is it finds billions of files and I'll have to go through each one to find out which ones I want, it doesn't name the files as they were, instead it does something like Recovered_Doc_xxxx (xxxx being the number)
yup thats the way it's done and why the repair people charge so much and you will still get it in boxes and have to sort it out but you will have it and thats a win
i used ontrack easy data recovery program a # of times with success which puts all recovered folders into folders called dir1 & so on. Darkhadou, i hid your other thread in all other topics.
Thanx for the help, I managed to get my work back, will backup in the morning and will try ontrack easy data recovery for my other bigger files like vids so happy now.
