Well everything was working fine and then i restarted my computer and when i went to the start menu to find a program all i had was less than 10 programs and all of the ones that i have installed such as microsoft office was deleted from the start menu, but i still have them in my program files. Anyone know what i could possibly do to get them back? I have NOD32 and have scanned everything multiple times but it hasnt came up with anything. Also it wont let me start my windows defender and lately i have been getting a bunch of corrupt files.
Hello ato09, Some of these new malware nasty’s are able to mess up the system files and prevent you from downloading and running a program that can remove them.. I’ll tell you right now that Nod32 won’t even scratch this one. We’ll have to use a bigger gun than that. Download ComboFix from Here But, BEFORE saving it to your Desktop, Rename it to Combo-Fix.exe with a hyphen – in the middle. • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results". • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts. • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall. Extra-Note: Please, DO NOT use ComboFix on your own.
