Well everything was working fine and then i restarted my computer and when i went to the start menu to find a program all i had was less than 10 programs and all of the ones that i have installed such as microsoft office was deleted from the start menu, but i still have them in my program files. Anyone know what i could possibly do to get them back? I have NOD32 and have scanned everything multiple times but it hasnt came up with anything. Also it wont let me start my windows defender and lately i have been getting a bunch of corrupt files.

    Hello ato09,

Some of these new malware nasty’s are able to mess up the system files and prevent you from downloading and running a program that can remove them..
I’ll tell you right now that Nod32 won’t even scratch this one. We’ll have to use a bigger gun than that.

Download ComboFix from Here But, BEFORE saving it to your Desktop, Rename it to Combo-Fix.exe with a hyphen – in the middle.

Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".

    • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.

    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall.

Extra-Note: Please, DO NOT use ComboFix on your own. It is a very powerful tool designed to deal with sophisticated infections and if something goes wrong or you use it incorrectly, you could possibly lose the use of your computer. It is ONLY meant to be used under the direct supervision of a malware removal specialist.
