I have been having problems with getting my nero to burn video files lately. So after many hours of reading and posting,I have done all of the following,I have contacted nero and upgraded to 6.6.1.4,uninstalled and reinstalled nero, uninstalled reinstalled k-lite codec pack, updated some drivers, downloaded the correct firmware for my drive, defraged and cleaned up my drive. Before I installed nero I used general clean tool, deleted all nero, ahead registries.enabled dma. I CAN BURN AGAIN!! Except the quality just does not seem the same as before.what can I do?

I was wondering if this has something to do with these issues. Here is my log from my most recent burn.(bus type.default 0, atapi: detected?)not sure if I have drivers conflicting or what, dvd rom,recorder,cd-rom etc. should be disabled or what?and if so,how?
    windows 2000,nero 6.6.1.4 legit,dvd/rwdx162d-a,
anything else you need, let me know.thanks in advance.

You have Roxio installed on your puter, it steps all over Nero and can cause you to make coasters. I would suggest removing it from your system completely.

I would also try better discs, Infodisc are not held in high regards. I suggest any media made in Japan, in particular Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Fuji, and Maxell...I also suggest Verbatims MIJ or MIT.

First of all,I am not questioning your skills,I just want to know for myself. How do you know these are from roxio? Or better yet how will I tell for future references? (I dont ever recall installing roxio.) After or before I uninstall them do I need any other drivers?

    thanks for your help.

Out of curiousity what do you mean by this, are you having pixellation/freezing/pausing, or does it just not look as good?

Most of all, I notice a loss of color when I play the dvd on my dvd player at home.yes pixelation seems bigger.and movies freeze sometimes.also my drive keeps running when a disc is inserted.Discs are very warm after a burn.so is my drive.these things didnt happen before.

    Google is your friend

    http://www.cd-burner-help.com/roxio-error-cdr4-cdralw2k.htm

Is the pixellation all through the movie or just in certain spots, like near the end? Pixellation can sometimes be "smoothed" out by using the AEC controls and Deep analysis in DVD Shrink or Advanced Analysis and slow burning with Recode.

Also, as LOCOENG suggested earlier try some better media, that which you are using is not too good. Your log is fine so Nero is doing its job, start with the easiest and that is removing the roxio drivers and then some better media.

I will add my 2cents worth

This is a buggy version of Nero, uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html

and install this bug free version
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

    Package 2
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
    BTW
Not really good discs, try Verbatim or Sony (made in japan)
