dont know what has happened but my drive wont read discs at all. the light works and the tray opens and shuts but it wont read the disc at all. in my device manager it says that it is working properly but in the drive registry of 'my computer' it shows c,d,g,h,iand j but no e:/ which is my disc drive. what should i do?

Pull the drive out of the computer, make sure it no longer shows up in device manager, or in BIOS, may even want to clear CMOS. Boot once with the system without the drive, and make sure there are no traces of it. Double check jumper settings on the drive and put it back in, make sure it's then detected by BIOS and then check if it's detected by windows. If it's still not working check the drive in another computer. If the other computer does the same thing, it's the drive, otherwise it sounds like it would be a software problem of some kind.
