Hi. I was just wondering if there are any converters that will convert a low quality avi file to a high quality one. I am downloading clips from a website and my file size is only 30 megabytes so i have room to spare but the quality is choppy. Thanx for your help

you need some alchemy with that. :)

    bottomline, no.
if its blocky, you can reduce it with deblocking filter, if its too blurry you acn sharpen it, and thats just about it. loss of detail is lost forever

Re-encoding almost always leads to quality loss, no matter how high your new bitrate...

However, like Shiroh said, quality can be improved if a divX has for instance interlacing or the wrong aspect ratio. I got tons of DivX from a friend which were some weren't de-interlaced or had the wrong aspect ratio. Re-encoding dit patched these movies up, but the visual quality didn't improve.

A year ago I bought a DVD-burner, meaning larger files for DivX! So I ripped my favorite movies from scratch to get them in a better quality.
