I was wondering if anyone knew if a 533 mhz cpu would work on a mobo that had 800/1066/... fsb. Both the cpu and mobo are 45nm 775 socket. Does anyone at least know what would happen if I tried it. I ask because I am afraid of installing it and potentially frying the new mobo.

What kind of CPU and what kind of MOBO is it? I was told that 800/1066 is the maximum it can support so it can run it. As an example, my motherboard specs say 1066/1366+ but I'm running 800 ram on them.

There is no 533mhz FSB 45nm CPU for Intel socket 775. You must have 533 confused with 1066. It should work fine.

Yes there is a 533 FSB for socket 775 there were only two released by intel the 805 and 810 pentium d's. They DO NOT work on 800+ mhz fsb boards. They dont break it but they just dont boot anything.
