Guys, need your help in understanding the difference between LVW-5005 and LVW-5005X. i have the 5005 model, and is very happy with it. my friend wants to buy as well, however he found LVW-5005X at newegg.com. Do you guys know if 5005X is in any way better than 5005 ? can you apply firmaware for 3hour recording and etc ... for 5005X as you do for 5005? appreciate your help

As far as I can tell, the differences between the LVW-5005 and the LVW-5005x are: The LVW-5005x has channel labeling & editing .. also has 3 hour recording mode already ... as far as other hacks ... I'm not sure ... To defeat Macrovision on the LVW-5005 (and probably the x also) all you need to do is start the recorder for about 10 seconds before you start the source (be it VCR of other DVD player) So far this method has worked 100% of the time for me ... I'm hesitant about hacking my firmware since I don't want to risk my 1 year warranty ...
