Hello I am just starting to learn about MPEG files. I have recently got some video files that have m2p extensions. I have used the TPNGnc program to convert these files to .mpg files (specifically MPEG2). I am able to view both the .m2p and .mpg files on my PC using WINDVD. I have burned these new .mpg files to a VCD using Nero but my DVD player fails to recognize the files on the VCD (my DVD player is capable of reading VCDs).

One thing I noticed was while creating the VCD in Nero I got a message that the .mpg files were not in compliance with the MPEG2 standards. I have seen this before while creating other VCDs, I usually turn off the compliance notice and continue with burn and VCD turns out OK.

So what happened? Did I take the wrong approach converting .m2p to .mpeg? Should I be using another program to convert .m2p to .mpg? What the hell is an .m2p file in the first place?

Any ideas on what may have gone wrong or any info on .m2p files would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

M2P referes to MPEG-2 Program Stream. Most often videos with M2P-extension have been encoded to SVCD already - try burning them with Nero directly. You should _never_ burn a VCD if Nero says that the video file is not (S)VCD compilant.
