Hello all, I have been really interested in buying a M3 DS Lite or Real, maybe even an R4. However, everyone is either sold out or are selling from China and have shaky customer service. However, I have found a site that I trust has M3 DS Real in stock. Before buying however I have found that a lot of people are having trouble with their M3 Reals. It turns out the contacts on the circuit board aren't lining up correctly. I don't know if this was just a bad batch, if it's only happening to older DS Lites or what. Needless to say I am a bit wary of buying the M3 Real now. I want a flash cart now though! So basically I am asking you that have M3 DS Real's to tell me if they work on DS Lites that are at least a year old. Or are these thigns just crappy? Will check back in 3 hours or so.
I got my DS Lite within a week of its release in the UK and my M3 DS Real works perfectly. What site have you seen with the M3 Real?
Well here's the thread that really got me scared : http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=91958&page=5 EDIT: Just found another thread, on this forum even: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/605486 It's about 7 months of posts of people saying the card is flimsy and the contacts don't line up right so they had to take it apart or slip paper under the metal contacts. Needless to say this is something I don't want to do. So is there any difference between the Real and the Simply other than Real accepts microSDHC cards and Simply doesn't? A lot of people in that thread were saying they had no problems with their Simply ever. I would probably rather purchase a Simply only because I only plan to only play DS games and use a 2 GB SD card. And, like I said, it seems to be the more consistent of the two. What do you think, should I pull the trigger and just get the Real?
I'm probably not the best person to answer that, as obviously i have a fully working Real and had no problems (and i take advantage of the GBA Expansion and SDHC support). If you don't need SDHC and don't mind some extra work should you ever want GBA then just get the Simply (or an R4DS, pretty much the same thing) One thing I would take note of though is people who a happy with their purchases don't tend to go in forums and state they have a fully working product, they only do when they have problems so it's never too accurate to read even 100 posts of people complaining when there could be thousands of happy users. Also (based slightly on my above point) I've been on this forum throughout the whole life of the M3 Simply I've seen plenty of people having problems with that too, just as less people are buying it now there are less people posting problems - Just something else for you to think about. (plus i'm a little drunk so i like typing lots and lots...and lots )
Well I've been doing some more research and I'm finding the CycloDS Evolution to be quite a nice piece of hardware. No spring to worry about breaking when inserting the microSD, looks like a faster, more stable GUI. And I have yet to hear complaints about it. A found a vendor selling it for $55, just $13 more than the M3 Real. I think the cost is worth the peace of mind. I will still definitely need to do more research on it, but if anyone here has any reviews/personal experiences of the CycloDS Evolution or modchipstore.com's reliability please let me know. EDIT: Ugh now I'm starting to see what you mean. There will be unsatisfied customers wherever you go. I think my best bet is to get the M3 Real. The M3 Real seems to have more documented support anyway. Good idea?
Since the site I'm getting it from is out of stock of the M3 GBA pack I will need to pick one up separately later. What's the best or cheapest one to get?
Ah sorry. I meant to say what's the best or cheapest GBA expansion pack thing that allows you to play GBA and NES [games] on. Should I hold out for the one they usually bundle in with the M3 Real, or get something called a 3in1 EZreader or something like that?
I personally prefer the M3 GBA expansion as it works with the M3 GBA menu (no need to load anything else first) and it has real time save and cheats, plus no need to patch the majority of GBA games. I do have the EZFlash 3-1 Expansion and it does work well, but i find it does not compare with the M3 GBA Expansion (no RTS or cheats and you need to patch all your GBA games to work) The only main advantages of the EZFlash 3-1 is it can hold a GBA game in it's NOR memory so you don't have to load the game everytime and it has the DS rumble motor built in. Some stores do sell the M3 GBA pack seperatly, such as here however they are also out of stock at the moment. It's up to you what you get though.
Okay I will just hold out and buy it separately when it becomes available. So I bit the bullet and placed an order. Now I can't wait for it to get here! I ordered it from RealHotStuff.com which is stationed in New Jersey (USA). I live in NJ as well so hopefully I should get it very soon. Placed an order on newegg to for a 2 GB microSD. Do you think my legit remble pak that I bought from Walmart will work with these games? I was thinking about just getting the M3 Rumble bundle for a dollar more but the cheapass in me told me not to. I am so excited!
