Ok, I used to have the evolutiox2 bios on my chameleon chip. It got corrupted because of some files I put on my xbox from a friends xbox that has a matrix. Anywayz, I used a slayer disc to fix the chip and now I have the m7 bios. I noticed that the fan speeds up considerably once the m7 bios loads, and if I hold the eject button and load the xbox bios the fan speed doesn't change. It didn't do that w/ the exector2 bios. Is this anything to be concerned about? I won't burn up the fan will I?
Are you sure you are using the original m7 bios? Because if someone fucked with it the speed fan could have been changed... be sure you downloaded from the usual sources. Also is there an option in your dashboard for fan speed? And for you final question, Yes it will burn your fan over time but it's not like it costs a lot anyway and it help your xbox stay cooler.
