i recently soft-modded my brothers xbox(this is a brand new xbox and i installed evolutionX) i have tried to connect to xlink kai with it, the network is reachable, but the xbox is not configured. this is not a normal network problem. i connect to the same network with my xbox no problem. kai says that mac address's that dont contain 00:50:f2, or 00:0D:3A are not compatible, and of course this xbox doesnt contain either.i have no problem ftp'ing to the box, but i cant connect to kai at all. ive heard that to change mac address's you need to run configmagic and do it that way, but is it possible to locate a file from my xbox and transfer it to my brothers xbox to change the address. oh and i didnt back up the eeprom(go ahead and slap my wrists). ive looked through a lot of forums and cant find the info i need, perhaps someone can please post some information or point me in the right direction before i jump into editing files and destroying the xbox. any help much appreciated.

So right now you can FTP into it right? Ok think about it, to FTP you need that xbox to have that Set ip addy (IE static ip) while if you wanna get on the internet you need to either change all the settings in your xbox (IE subnet mask, default gateway etc) or to make it easier it's called DHCP instead of Static, and once you have changed that you of course will not be able to ftp until you change it back to static but you will be able to use xlink. And you don't have to change the mac addy all that is, is the xbox's NIC identifaction nothing more, and if yours works with xlink or supposed to then it should.

    hope that is it,

i understand static and dynamic ip, however both of the mentioned xbox's are set to dynamic(let me clarify, they get whatever ip the router gives out) and since the router assigned my xbox's ip why would i have connectivity issues?. both xbox's are set to a dynamic ip. on the same network with no changes i can connect fine with one, but not the other. and i have no ftp problems with either as long as i check the ip the router gave my xbox first. the only difference is the mac address's as stated above

No, you have to just change the xbox's settings to match the network settings. and you can't connect if one is connected and the other isn't correct? and have you tried switching the ports for the xbox's?
