How do i remove the serial permanently from the my mac os x computer .

Is there some sort of registry on a mac or do i have to remove it through the terminal.
    (If so how?)

from what I've read, there is three or four spots the serial is at on the computer. Not only when you turn it on, but actually engraved on the processor or something. But I could be wrong. There is really only real reason why you would need to remove that, so I'll let you do the rest of the work...

Why would you want to remove your serial #?

the reason is if you remove the serial you can do things like overclock the pc without being limited and running specialized code on g4 and g5 macs that apple doesn't want you to know about

    Exactly

Sorry for not getting back to you asap

I want to try messing with some overclocking stuff with my new mac but that serial is holding me back every time i delete something something shows up

I heard that i could get a firmware download that someone made with no serial and then use that to update the original firmware...that is if its not protected.
    Thankyou though

    i wouldn't do this

because if the firmware is the wrong version and you use it it could brick your macintosh
