Hey, so I've been wondering about Leopard for my mac for a while now. My mac is a few years old now and please dont take my question out of context but what i want to know is if i downloaded a version of leopard off a torrent website could i still get software updates? The reason behind this question is that Im considering getting it but I want to know if i need to upgrade RAM and what not and if i do ill just buy a new mac, but before i want to know for sure cause they are pricey, plus i dont really want to fiddle around with it without the latest security updates. Please any feedback will help!!!
Hey fudgee, my first post goes to you ;-) I'm a big Apple fan so I'm trying not to take to many risks on my first post! I tend to believe that mostly every new Mac OS X version has been faster than the previous one on a given machine. But then again, you don't really say which Mac you have so it's hard to tell From Apple: * 512MB of memory * DVD drive for installation * 9GB of available disk space * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply. * Some features require Apple's MobileMe service; fees apply. You would definitively need more than 512MB ... but that applies for all versions of Mac OS X, not only Leopard! I'd say the true question is do you really need Leopard now? Knowing that the Snow Leo will be out really soon, and that there aren't that many new and useful features compared to Tiger (Quicklook, TimeMachine, Spaces?, Spring Folders in the dock, other that I am obviously missing). I use it and like it a lot though, and it's a lot more stable now than it was when it was released. Maybe give your Mac specs and I can try to relate with the models I have/have had. .licia.
