I ripped it with Fab and then ran through VOB, but it will not open in Shrink. So I then ripped it with AnyDVD and then tried to open with Shrink, but still no luck. Final, I tooked the ripped files from AnyDVD and ran through VOB Blanker, but still Shrink will not open. I need some help

I just backed that movie up a half hour ago. Cone DVD2 & AnyDVD, no prblems & the process took about 17 minutes. If you've never tried Clone, I suggest you give it a shot. Free for 21 days, www.slysoft.com

Well, using DVD Clone and AnyDVD did work, but why? Why did these two programs work but Fab and VOB Blanker did not work?

You should be able to easily backup this movie using DVD decrypter(or DVDFab), VobBlanker, and DVD shrink. Here's how:

[bold]Make sure anydvd is not running (or DVD43 if using it)[/bold]

1)rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via File Mode to your hard drive or, rip the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter (latest version) to your hard drive

2)Use VobBlanker version 2.1.0.0 to process and filter out fake cells and correct file structure. Once the VIDEO_TS.IFO is loaded:

[bold]A)click on and highlight VTS_08_*.VOB in the upper window

B)in the lower window you'll see 5 entries (01-05) under PGC#, keep entry 01 and blank entries 02-05, to do this click on the entries to highlight them then click blank.[/bold]

    Press PROCESS and wait.

3)Encode/transcode the files with DVD Shrink to create your VIDEO_TS folder or ISO image

4)Burn the VIDEO_TS folder or image with any of your desired burning engines.

    Note:
If and when using anydvd, this will be done for you by the software.

Thanks John. When I would run the file through VOB Blanker I was just processing the entire file and not blanking out anything. I would assume that is were my problem was. But how did you know what cells to blank out? Could you tell just my looking at them?

nothing special about this movie, many threads, on this movie did you try the search button? the combo that works is shrink and dvd region + css free running in the backround.

    >Use DVD decrypter to rip the DVD files to your HDD
    >since shrink won't open those files without producing a error, process them thru VobBlanker first blanking the problem cells
    >blanker creates a new set of files that shrink will now open and process.
    >burn the files to disk

You'll need to locate in the upper window the VTS_XX_*.VOB file that represents the main movie, the files can be previewed by clicking on a VTS_XX_*.VOB then click on the entries in the bottom half to view. If you do this you'll notice that entires 02-05 are fake and contain nothing, these guys need to be removed, but previewing entry 01 will show the movie itself telling you this is the good one. You'll need to practice using blanker to discover what represents the main movie and what entries associated with it are fake simply by using the preview feature.
