I read a post here saying people are paying up to 270$ First of all you can get one brand new in a box a BestBuys website for 142 plus 11$ shipping for a grand total of 153 (Not in store) Second of all they go for even less than that on ebay Best Some ebayers are selling it for 119$ and free shipping I just have been disappointed in Circuit City most of the time Their sales people are comission I think and you can tell and their prices can usually be beat hand s down Just my opinion Anyway I bought mine and have been happy with it I bought it to record my music off my computer and to record my cable movies For the price it has great features and is pretty easy to use The only thing I didnt like was out of the box it was in a locked mode The instruction manual wasnt much help You cant get the DVD door to open until you hook it up to a tv or monitor and set it to scan channels Once it looks through your channels to see which ones you pick up it is ready to go I reccommend setting it up on a cheap tv with very few channels to scan first unless you are buying it for a specific cable ready tv I only need mine to pick up channel 3 when I put it on the cable box and EXT2 when I record off my computer Another thing I could not get it to work by just plugging an audio input Luckily I got my video card to work to output video from my computer or I wouldnt even be able to record sound It made me mad at the time because I have some music stations and news sations streaming on my computer and a bunch of mp3 files So that was my main purpose in buying it But I will admit I could use my VCR as a work around if nothing else worked and most importantly it IS a video recorder *L* Like I said it has many features for the price Records DVD quality up to 2 and a half hours then the quality goes down to VCR qaulity as you approach the 8 hour mode Lets you format to your TV size Lets you edit how many chapters Can rewrite on DVD RW Over all Im thinking of getting another one since they go for about 100$ on ebay There thats my opinion for what its worth
Ok I see mistake the post I saw for 270$ were in the year 2004 Sorry I just found this forum but I still love this Magnavox model for the price What do you think?
