Major windows error.help.

    my friend turned on his computer and couldnt get past the windows loading screen.i restarted and hit F2 and restarted it to the previous state when it worked.now when the pc is turned on it loads to the desktop and i get a windows explorer error.the desktop pic can be seen but nothing else can be done.
    also just to add his pc has broadband with no firewall and no antivirus.the pc has never been maintainted.he has about 1gig left out of 30.his pc is full of crap.
    need help please!!

    you say he has no virus protection and no firewall, so chances are he has accumalated viruses, trojans, you name it. nice wipe and re install should do the trick.

    can you explain to me how to wipe the hardrive and reinstall please

    the hardrive is NTFS if this helps

    i did a search on google and there are so many differant guides.what is the best one?i dont want to wreck his pc

    If it makes it as fair as the desktop then press Ctrl+Alt+Del and then goto 'Task Manager' then 'Applications' tab then 'New Task' then type 'Explorer'. This might restart the explorer shell if your lucky.

    If that fails then you could try a boot time antivirus or actually instead of type 'Explorer' above then you could try 'cmd.exe' and just get a command line antivirus.

    that doesnt work i cant even go into windows task manager!
