Hi there, I have just got back from holiday and am trying to make a holiday movie from my video clips recorded from my camcorder. I have added the 2 30mins mini dvd clips onto 2 files on my computer. (Tenerife 1 and Tenerife 2..) I can watch these clips via my power dvd but i can not seem to burn the 2 files onto one 120min dvd.. I did this last year no problems using Nero 7 premium but have since bought a new laptop with windows vista and the nero 7 isn't compatible. If i try to make a movie with my windows movie maker it will only let me import the avi clips from my digital camera but when i try to import the video files from my camcorder video files it tell me something about not having the correct codec's on my computer. Is there anyway for me to do this without purchasing a software? Thanks, (and sorry if i am not that clear i am not that computer literate i just kind of muddle through..) Charlie )
Try and load the files into 'DVD Flick',see if it will create a DVD for you. A concise guide is included with the software. If it rejects the files, download 'Mediainfo', open the file and find out which codec it uses. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...s/dvd_flick.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_software/mp3_tools/mediainfo.cfm
Thanks for your reply.. The dvd flick software did not allow me to make a dvd. I have looked a little more into it and the video files that are causing me a problem are VOB (video objects) files. So all the dvd making software i have must not support these files. Is there someway of possibly converting the VOB files to AVI for example?? Cheers.. )
Are these files in a folder (perhaps named, VIDEO_TS) and the files named, similar to: +VIDEO_TS.VOB +VIDEO_TS.BUP +VTS_01_0.IFO +VTS_01_0.BUP +VTS_01_0.VOB +VTS_01_1.VOB +VTS_01_2.VOB If so, they are all ready to be burned with the likes of 'IMGBurn'. The link lists a guide on how to do this. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/imgburn.cfm
That's the files.. Funnily enough i am just in the process of burning them now.. With ImgBurn. Let you know how i get on )
Nah, not really what i was looking for. It burned the VOB, BUP and IFO files onto DVD but the avi clips i added had an unsupported audio file so there was no sound on them.. The VOB files were there but unclear scene selections and just played things randomly it seemed. I want to make a proper movie with a mix of the VOB, BUP, IFO and the AVI clips. With a menu and clear scene selections. I am thinking I am going to have to maybe buy the Nero 8... Unless there is some free software that does this.. Thanks for your help! Charlie )
VOB2MPG will convert a group of VOB files into one MPEG file. DVD Flick will accept mpeg files. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VOB2MPG
Hmmmm! What am i doing wrong?? I downloaded and installed vob2mpg twice now. Each time i run the install wizard it says that it has been installed correctly but then all my desktop icons completely disappear and i have to restart the computer to get them all back.. Then all i have is still the little zip folder icon with vob2mpg underneath on my desktop and when i open it just keeps taking me to a repair or remove wizard.. It doesn't open any program or anything.. I am probably being stupid, sorry!!
The icon to open the program is a little soccer ball: Start => All Programs => BadgerIT => VOB2mpg. Perhaps that .net program is the problem.
