We have several Canon MF5550 printers in our office and they are shared on our network. We have a new computer that has Windows Vista and it can't print to any of these printers. Canon in their ultimate wisdom has decided not to create any Windows Vista Drivers for these printers. Is there anyway via software or hardware that I can get this computer to be able to use the printers? PS. I would have loved to go back to XP on this computer, but eMachines does not have XP drivers for their computers anymore.
You should be able to go to the printer web site and download the correct vista driver for the printer which both xp and vista will reconize.
john, canon does not have vista drivers for that printer as i've checked. got this off their site. Issue: Does my product support Windows Vista? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Solution: No, this product is not supported in Windows Vista At this time, Canon has decided not to develop Windows Vista drivers for the imageCLASS MF5530 and MF5550 models. While Canon does want to provide the best possible support for our customers, the decision was made to concentrate our efforts on developing Windows Vista drivers for all of our current products. While it might be possible to get the current Windows XP drivers installed into Windows Vista using the "Add Printer Wizard", Canon can not guarantee the functionality or performance of the Windows XP drivers while used in the Windows Vista environment. greekave, try running the xp driver in compatibilty mode.
