okay i have the windows px bin and cue files.
i open up nero and go to boot, highlight the files and burn them.
when i put the cd in and restart the computer it starts up (the black screen and .....)but after 20 seconds it says search for usb hdd,or something like that and it does not continue from there.at first i thought its suppose to take long but still no luck.

if anyone can help, really appreciated, thanks

Did you use the Microsoft Corporation.img for the boot image in Nero? You have to have a boot image to use if you want to make a bootable cd.

    http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

Look at step 4 on that page. It tells you how to extract a boot image from an original XP CD and add it to a boot cd that you create. I have done this before, slipstreaming a XP SP2 into an XP install CD so that SP2 is already integrated. You don't have to do that, but the method for creating a bootable cd is the same as those instructions.

in windows explorer, goto tool\folder options\view & enable "show all files" to see on xp cd if there is a boot.ini on it!

Even enablling show hidden files will not show the Microsoft Corporation.img on a Windows XP boot cd. You need something like ISO buster than can view the boot partion on a cd. When you create a bootable cd, it is almost like partitioning a hard drive. A small partition holds the boot code, boots the cd, then hands it over to the main system. For example, look at a Knoppix Linux cd, the bootable live cd, with ISO Buster. You will see a knopper.net.img in the Bootable CD portion, but you will not see that by listing the files within Windows or Linux, you have to have something like ISO Buster that can see the bootable cd portion.

    http://www.isobuster.com/isobusterdownload.htm
There is a link to a trial of iso buster.
