making an iso image from a copy righted disc..

I've been having trouble trying to make a iso image of a pc game can any one shed some light, 2ndly what format are PC games written in??

 

Making backups of game CD's etc can be tricky to say the least. Personally I use Alcohol 120% for this type of backup, as it deals with more than one type of media........it also has a trial version.
