I make sports videos for my own collection. Recently youtube changed their download format to allow the High def .mp4 download.

What I want to do is join the mp4's and make a dvd.

    Problem is, I've tried everything.....evvvvvvvvvrything.

I've tried using Pinnacle Studio, Corel VideoStudio 12, Windows Movie Maker and a host of mp4 editors.

Nothing I do works. Either the software crashes, or it doesn't respond.

Does anybody have anymore ideas before I waste any more money on software it looks like I'll never use?

    Thank you

I used to have that problem...

I would use Vdownloader to pull the actual original file down...

No conversion and then I would use DVDflick to convert to a dvd..

    Works great for me....

gotta love that dog running into the wall.

Ok.....so not to be ignorant or anything but was that reply supposed to help? All you did is tell me about your problem.

Does anybody have any other "help" they can offer?

    Thank you

I doubt you've tried everything, and apps like Pinnacle Studio, Corel VideoStudio 12, Windows Movie Maker aren't designed to convert mp4.

Smokejump specifically told you what to try:
DVD Flick (free) works fine as does ConvertXtoDVD (pay) with YouTube mp4's.

womble mpeg video wizard dvd. I use this on youtube mp4 videos to make my own compilations and it works great. It will let you edit/cut/join/crop/add a second audio track. I use it on my xp pro computer and it never crashes. Never tried it on vista.

Just make sure you have all the codecs installed. I use the klite full codec pack. Womble has all the codecs for mpeg files. But might need the other codecs to decode/encode other formats.

Excellent, this was the answer I'm looking for. I will try this. I use Klite's "Mega" codec pack myself so I should be ok on that front.

    And for future reference.....

Avidemux works wonderfully at converting the mp4 to avi without quality loss. I use x264 compression and mp3 audio on the conversion.
