Ok thanks for response. Its definetly intriguing.

I would like to see the abgx report on Oblivion ripped with kreon and Oblivion ripped with 0800. Just to see the difference.

What does SS stand for anyway? ;p

SeriousEh - Read the post above yours. Now that ebxtreme has confirmed it by ripping some other games, it's pretty much a certainty now that what I said is true - 0800 always gives SSV2 and Kreon always gives SSV1, regardless of the game you're ripping.

    SS = Security sector.

It seems that Kreon uses preset angles (angles that all 360 games up to now are known to use) with jitter applied, while 0800 actually reads each angle twice which is why I guess the "trust SS v2 angles" option has been added to abgx360. I guess it's only an issue if future games use different angles because then Kreon rips wouldn't have the correct angle info in the SS. Also, I guess it depends how iXtreme Lite Touch handles the angles. If it goes back to the pre-iXtreme 1.4 days then the option to adjust angle 359 will have to be checked in abgx360 and again, you'd have to go back and check all of your backups. We'll have to wait and see on that.

I found this a bit interesting:

Using ABGX and my 0800/fw DG-16D2S to check a "Burned DVD" (eg. Forza 3 / 0800 SS v2) it usually produces a media error. Usually says file is too small to be an Xbox 360 game or a layer break missing message. This is because the 0800 firmware I'm using is dedicated to "ripping" only as stated in its text file. However, if I place the same disc in my kreon drive it will check out perfectly using ABGX displaying FULL SS v2 results.

It's weird how a kreon drive can read SS v2 info off of a 0800-ripped backup but can not when ripping an official retail disc. Even if it's merely reading the ss info exactly how its been burned onto a disc, it's funny how a kreon can't rip it from retail. What do you think?

That's to be expected with a copy though, because they're straightforward to read and duplicate as there's no protection.

You guys getting different results with Kreon drives need to compare hardware, firmware and software to see why some Kreons won't do ss v2 at all and some apparently are getting ss v 2.

Perhaps some older revisions won't grab it, but newer ones will? Or perhaps some people are using 360 drives and some desktop drives for Kreons? Or some people think they have a Kreon drive but really have an 0800 drive? I don't know, but I'd love to find out.

    My drive is :

    Samsung | SH–D163B - SATA - Kreon Drive (from SamsungDrives.com)

Pre-Flashed and Tested Firmware: -> KREON Version 1.0

Manufactured Date: June 2009 - Direct from Samsung

Used xbc2.9 to rip ACII and H3odst both showing ssv2

one note though, I don't know if it means anything or not but...

When set to "ASPI" I get a pop box that say "Invalid Security Sector Detected" then it gives you the option to Abort, Retry, or Ignore, and It always comes up at 3.39%, After I choose "ignore" it begins to read/copy the game. After the copy I run it through abgx.

Here is the error when when set to "SPTI"

Get Security Sector Failed; Retrying again
    Action: Read Security Sector
    Sense Error: 6 / 29 / 00
POWER ON, RESET, OR BUS DEVICE RESET OCCURRED
    CDB: READ DVD STRUCTURE
    0xAD 00 FF 02 FD FF FE 00 08 00 05 C0

When the setting is set on "SPTI" it won't even give me the option to abort, retry and ignore, it says "Read Fail" and won't go any further..

Like I said I don't know if that means anything but thought I would throw that out there..

Wow, this blog has become confusing now. I tried to rip a copy of Forza 3 with my sammy running ixtreme 1.61 just to make sure i could figure it out. Could not get it to work properly, possibly due to the fact that the 360 drive is not the master, or because im using an onboard sata chipset. Just found that schtrom360xtract v4.1 has come out. Hopefully il have more luck with that, even though it seems like all this is quite pointless.

Also people that are getting ssv2 need to state whether a copy from an already burned disc or retail disc. Kreon drives will produce ssv2 from already burned discs.

Like tra5h I got my drive from Samsungdrives.com
I am using a Samsung | SH–D162D and the as mentioned before the Mw2 I ripped was a retail copy.

If someone has any info to clear up this confusion let me know because i just downloaded l4d2 and it show ssv1.
I will ripp more retail copys of newer games then let you guys know the details. but anyone that could help please contribute. this could be very helpful. M$ future ban waves could use this, just guessing though I have know idea how this works it just sounds like a good place to look. but better safe then sorry.
But again I dont know a lot so...Yeah

i ripped mw2 from a retail copy on kreon sh162 d drive and it came up ssv1 and needed the bad angles corrected option enabled in abgx.
since bought a sammy ms25 and have put 0800 firmware on it and it seems good enough.

    From ABGX:
So as others have stated, there is no such thing as a SSV2 sector on original Xbox 360 games; SSV2 is only an additional security sector to ensure backups appear close to originals as possible.

I should add that there is no such thing as a security sector (SSV1 or SSV2) on an original disc. The security sector is "scene" created and used to store challenge response data.

Absolutely. AFAIK, the angle challenges aren't the cause of the recent bans, tho. I suspect timing-related issues.
