Hey all, I'm getting pretty aggravated with whatever this is.

Basically, it seems it started with something I've heard about a bit, the "Free Antivirus 2008" or whatever trying to install on my machine. Norton seemed to catch it, but a bit after it all went down I went to Google to search for something. The search went fine, but everytime I tried to click one of the results a new tab in Firefox opened to some other search engine or faux anti-virus page, etc. Getting extremely aggravated with this, I tried running a Norton scan. It only scanned around 3,000 files and didn't find a problem. I'm pretty sure there are more than 3,000 files on my comp.

After doing some tough searching for an answer on the net, I tried running Norton again. This time (and up to now, even) when I double-click Norton, nothing happens. Just an hour glass for a second and then nothing. I've since tried going to various anti-virus websites (Norton, McAfee, etc) for reading but I can't connect to any of them (but I can connect to any other webpage). Finally, just about any spyware/malware removers I do manage to download (which is tough when you can't connect to their host sites) don't seem to launch, having what happened to Norton earlier happen to them (click and nothing).

So far the programs I have managed to run were Ad-Aware (which caught quite a lot of stuff, but didn't solve the problem) and Stinger (which caught nothing). I've tried installing MalwareBytes and HijackThis, but both fail to do anything when I double-click them (like Norton earlier).

What should my next step be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read through my plea for help!

    Update:

I seem to have gotten HijackThis to work by adding a "-1" to the end of the file name (seems whatever I've got will block it baesd on the name". Here is the resulting log-file:

Tried to do the same to MalwareBytes and it will install now, but won't run.

Please let me know what my next move should be. Thanks for your time.
