Ello all. I could use some help with my slight issue. I am running xp pro with an ati x1900xtx, creative xfi and 4gb ram. Currently i have my PC hooked to a logitech z-5300(the small 500 wat system analog) DTS and dolby digital sound great on this lil guy. However i want to hook my 1997 pioneer 5.1 analog reciever to my Xfi so i can get digital sound out of my speakers. Since the speakers are just a medium for the sound(just like the analog z5300's are) the sound card will be my decoder, but you already figured that. My question is how do i take the 6 channel direct cables and hook them to my AV box that only has the old school composite stereo connections, the red and white rca. Im not seeing how i can go from 3 plugs to just 2. my AV pioneer setup is kinda confusing. The sub has outputs to the front speakers only and then inputs to the AV amp itself. It uses normal speaker wire. The kind you cut and twist the copper strands together. The rear speakers connect to the amp along with the center speaker. Thanx for the help Matt
Connect the 6 outputs from the sound card to the back of the reciever. If the AV Pioneer sub has both inputs and outputs using normal speaker wires, you have to run it off of the "front speakers" outputs from the reciever, and you need to have your front-right and front-left connected to the sub or it won't work right. If the AV Pioneer sub has coax inputs, then you need a set of coax-sub outputs from the reciever to make it work correctly. You do not connect it dirrect from the sound card.
