DVDFab Decrypter doesn’t complete a rip of this movie. It reads along famously until about the 50% point and then my reader begins to whir differently. It sounds as if a struggle to read the disk is underway. Progress comes to a crawl. The resulting file size increments 256 bytes at a time, but the struggle takes so long I end the process before my reader melts. The disc looks to be in great shape. I cleaned it before getting underway just in case. (I use a Phillips cleaner.) Any ideas about what's going on?

Sorry, I've never used DVDFab Decrypter but I did make a succesful backup of that movie with DvD Decrypter.

Sounds like you have a trouble spot on that dvd. Try ripping with Decrypter like uniique1 did. Imo if decrypter can't do it nothing can. It can definitley handle this movie. If that fails exchange it for a new one - you may have a bad press.

Thanks. I'll exchange it. I always wonder if I've run into a protection scheme or something much simpler.

nope, no funny protections on this movie. either use DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter (i used just Shrink on it's own to do mine)
