Try to update it another time:

"You can always recover from a bad flash by holding the reset button until the blue eject light turns on. This will let you boot the upgrade disc to reflash your Infinity."

There's a chance you have a clone chip as the new firmware is programmed to not work or even kill some of the clone chips - so I've read anyway.

i have heard its not worth the risk with this chip as if you get a bad flash its game over for the chip, just what ive heard mate.

Only if you have a clone - with an original MI chip there´s a simple recovery procedure :)

My apologies - I´ve just read up the thread and saw you had already tried. The only thing I can think of, if you´re totally sure you have an original chip, is to email Luke at Infinity as they´ve always bee really helpful with any questions I´ve asked.

    Their address is info[at]infinitymod.com

Did you try to reupdate with 1.45 or some older version of firmware?

I have the same problem with my slimline ps2 (Pal) after updating the firmware from my infinity chip from 1.39 to 1.46: the ps2 hangs at the (new) matrix boot logo. After I did the firmware update it said it programmed ok / successfully. So, it looked like it succeeded. But after that the matrix bootlogo keeps hanging, when I restarted the console. I tried an older version of the firmware as well, but nothing happens either, it just hangs.

Maybe I do not have an original chip then? I had the ps2 modded in a store. I do have some kind of guarentee, but I don't know if that is also valid for when you do a firmware upgrade. It should be though. O
I emailed infinitymod so, I hope to get a reaction soon for this problem. Kedz, did you get a reply from infinitymod, and what did they advise you to do? Anybody else got this problem as well?

    He Kedz,

I brought my ps2 to the store I got it from today, there gonna look at it as well. So, we just have to wait. I asked them if it was a genuine matrix infinity they put inside, and they told me yes. But of course you can never be sure, until you see the chip itself. You saw the chip yourself (Actel Pro)? Well, let's hope there's a solution to this...We'll have to wait now I guess. I'll let you know when they find a solution (either infinitymod or the store)...

    Hi Kedz,

You can look in this thread on the forum: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/144974

Look for the post with the pictures of the different Matrix Infinity chips (including the clones). I wouldn't exactly recommend you to open your PS2, but if you know somebody who can do it (perhaps a store), maybe you can check. What I read in this thread, tells me we might have a clone chip....:(

By the way, we should place this thread in PS2 hardware boot discussion...this part of the forum is for dvd-backups. Maybe we'll get some more reactions then ;)

Here's another person with the same problem in the general discussion forum:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/189682

Seems like the matrix team can't help either. I just would like to know if my chip is a genuine MI or not. Now I can't tell the store if they screwed things, or that it is a problem with the MI chip / firmware.
