What do you guys think about this product? They sell it at the store I work at, just saw it this morning. Can It play backups of Ds games? and how well does it compare to M3 lite and such?

Compared to the M3 it is crap - it has poor homebrew support - it's media playback matches the M3 at best (they both utilise the Moonshell software) and after downloading the maximum overload program that Datel (ahem, i mean some random coder) released you can play DS roms on it though no where near as many as the M3.

If you have a choice, go with the M3.

If it's a money issue, get a GBAMP CFv2 and hack the firmware to allow NDS mode, this device is what Datel copied.

I can provide technical help on using both the GBAMP CF and M3 devices.

i personally own the product that you are talking about.first there are two versions the max media dock and max media player 4gb hdd(sucks). now on to the dock. if you want homebrew you or gba support you should get something else. because very few homebrew things work for the mmd (max media dock)a few that do are dsdoom moonshell a genesis emulator called Picodriveds a some other things to.as for "backups" of ds games you will need a program called max overload which will patch the games for you. you will also need a donor card for some games which will let you save the game if it cant patch the save function. as for media there video converter is pretty good i converted a full 2 hour movie with no real problems. and music support works fine. just make sure you update to the latest version which is 1.22.
