I wonder if anyone has experienced this kind of problem before. I have 3 x 17" monitors running Win XP Pro 2002 (detailed system specs below). I have 29 open windows running and I cannot open any more windows. 26 open windows come from one single program and remaining ones come from: exploder, excel and one other prog. When I try to open extra window, I don't get any error message. The new window just doesnt open. I can think of few possible reasons: memory or graphics card. (In previous systems I've had many many more windows open so I don't think its the OS) I would really appreciate any ideas, solutions etc. DELL OpTIPLEX GX 280 Pentium 4 3.00 GHz 512MB RAM Radeon 7000 & Radeon x300 WINDOWS XP Pro 2002 (SP1) (...isn't SP2 latest?)
Make that 3. If your going to have so many proccesses running at the one time ofcourse it going to say no. it like fitting too much food inyour mouth and not chewing it. Let your computer proccess the steps that are already running then close one and then start another. Personlly i have that much ram and only have max up to 5 windows open and only max 2 to 3 programs runnig. remember windows itself takes up a big chunk of the RAM.
I agree.. it does seem like ram is running out. My friend has excatly similar com set up, but he can have up to 50 windows open.. I have few other progs running on back which he doesnt. Will format and reinstall windows and consider getting more ram. thx >why would you have open 29 windows?? do i need a reason?.. heh
