I have been using Maxell DVD-R 8x for a while, but a few months ago I started using 16x. Every once in a while when I push record it will record for 5 seconds and then say that it cannot record to disc. My main problem though is that sometimes it will have been recording for a while and for some reason it erases like two minutes of what it has recorded and still continue. An example is going from 13 minutes to 11 minutes and record from there. I've checked it after taping and sure enough it has erased two minutes of what I have taped. I have an Emerson EWR20V5 DVD/VCR combo. Thanks in advance.

I just found out that 4x and 8x are recommended. However I had just bought a 50 pack of up to 16x. I've been recording at EP, so will it work better if I record at LP? Also, does anyone know a good place that I can find Maxell DVD-R 8x at? Thanks in advance.

your recorder has a problem with ANY 16x disk because you would need a firmware update to record properly to a higher speed rated disk. Stick with the 8x disks .... otherwise try to update the firmware for your dvd burner!

look what I found when I googled:

afterdawn.com / forums / dvd recorders / emerson dual deck vcr dvd recorder ewr20v5

go to the dvd recorders forum and look up this thread!

not really but it's unwise because your drive is good for the 4x, 8x media.... and it has write strategies for these disks not the 16x. I wouldn't do it anyway! unless you can update your drives firmware so it can!

I bought a 25 pack of Maxell DVD-R up to max. 8x today. This is the first time that I've come across DVDs that has a white top to it, making it inkjet printable. Will these inkjet printable 8x discs work on my DVD Recorder and is it okay to still label them with a marker? Thanks in advance.

you started off this thread using these disks. and now you
the only differance is that these are printables...... they should be ok! since you used them before and you could use a marker on them!
