    JJenn74,

You should have been around AD long enough to know better than to buy memorex media. Sorry to say, you wasted your money. Do a search on memorex media and look at all the bad reports. Look at peoples sigs as well.

When I purchased them I got in a hurry and picked up the wrong brand. I didn't figure it out until after I posted the question. Dumb mistake on my part I guess. Good news is that some of the discs are actually working ok so far.

You might be ok as you got the better of the evils and got prodisc instead of cmc magnetics. Good luck, hope they continue to work for you.

When you buy Memorex you take a big gamble; because you never know what you are getting. A friend of mind bought the 25 Spindle of Memorex 16x +R when they were on sale at Best Buy a week ago and got MCC004 (oustanding). Another friend picked up a spindle and they were CMC (poor soul) and I picked up a spindle and got the Prodisc R04. These prodiscs have performed well for me but it all depends on your drive and your firmware. I have the NEC 3520A with modified firmware 1.UG. I sincerely believe this firmware would read and burn a tortillo at 16X if I put it in. (Okay, I'm exaggerating). I/ve burned the Prodisc at 16X (just for a test) and it played well and quality was good on my player(a cheap Wal-Mart Emerson). I've been burning the rest at 8X. I don't plan to buy anymore Memorex--no more grab bags for me.

    LABOY,

Well said. That is the main problem w/ memorex, they buy from several manufactures (mostly cmc mag in the past) and ya never knew what ya had till ya got home and ID'd em. Although I don't have any problems with prodisc's when burned w/ my benq, my litey hates em and I don't usually recommend them due to too many varying results.

if your computer plays them, the issue might just be compatibility between media and dvd player. Does your dvd player play any dvd+r? Do other dvd players play this disc? I'd agree with you got lucky by not getting CMC crap (CMC and CRC go together don't they???), but you may have some of those in the same batch you bought.

I'm burning them with my rebadged Lite-On (DigitalMax), bookmarking them as DVD-ROM and burning at 1X. That seems to be working out okay.
