    Hello..
I am kind of new here. I do have some posts in media the last few days.

To make a long story short my HP840e will not do a PIF scan, though I am not sure what it is, I have seen graphs on this & other sites.
All my media comes up with a 100% qaulity scores. Someone pointed out that my burner does not support this scan. This bothers me, because at times, after the burn & finished with Nero I will get a msg box: NERO Internal Error. Ths diks seem to play fine, though I have not watched a whole disc.

So, I am within my return policy. Should I return it & get something else.
    LiteOn..any good?
    IO Magic?
Sony? Although I do not really want a Sony

Also, a lot of these drives require you to purchase a plug in from Nero. The Lite on requires the audio AC3 plug in at a price of $25.

LG requires the mpeg & audio plug in.

So, I am not sure what to do here.

    Is the PIF scan important?
Maybe I just have a bad unit & I can exchange it for the same if the PIF is not important.

I know one thing. Tech support is a free number & they are good at HP
I had to call long distance for Lite On & they were kind of lost & I was on hold for 1\2 hour. They had no recommnedations for me.

There is a lite on on sale for $79 locally I think I am going to check it out later.

Hope I get some answers. I would just like to buy local, rather then online. Had bad luck with some online purchases in the past.

    Local:
    LG
    I/.O Magic
    HP
    Sony
    Plextor w/ Roxio
    Lite on, a few models.

Thanks for taking time to read all this
