ok so last night i was sitting on my computer and it was working just finemy girl did all her work on it and everything. not even 10 hours later when starting up my computer to make a dvd the thing wont start up. now i believe its the power supply becuz the fan runs (non-stop by the way) and the dvd-rom will open up lights come on and everything but theres no power to the monitor or the keyboard and the speakers altho lit up and turned up wont give me the windows boot chime which is leading me to believe its not booting up, and since theres no power to the monitor or keyboard i cant find out whats wrong. my friend said maybe a motherboard but the light on the motherboard comes on AND the dvd-rom is hooked up to the motherboard and works fine. any ideas on what this could be? asap help plz got some school work due and no computer to bring it up with.

ok so may it be the power supply does anyone know where i can get one to fit in the Shuttle (mini) its very slim only 120w max and has a small fan on the back side where the plug is. its made by achme but when i go to the website there isnt much for ordering, more like what it is.

disconnect all cables to drives. remove all cards & ram except videocard & 1 stick of ram. reseat those. reseat the power connector to motherboard. check the can shaped objects on the motherboard that are capacitors that they be flat topped & not domed. reset the cmos by using the cmos jumper.

umm...ok i can take those things down and do that but i have no idea what that is or what its gonna do, im not to smart w/ computers so i dont know really what a cmos or a cmos jumper is. so if a bit more explaination as to what exactly that will do and how i jump my cmos i can then see if i can work this all out. thanks

look in your motherboard manual or user guide.

To reset cmos look on your motherboard for a battery... kinda looks like a watch battery. Remove it and put it back 30 seconds later and that will reset it.

It could be many things but ddp gave you some good tips. Next time just build yourself a "normal size" pc with a regular size power supply and forget the Shuttle. Just because its small and cute doesn't mean that you need to have one. This kinda reminds me of the stupid Nano that every idiot out there is buying... go back to the 4th generation iPod you morons.

well i appreciate the input guys. i understand fully that the nano as well as the Shuttle is a stupid creation to get people to spend more money for something smaller....i didnt buy it tho my girlfriend did. i just maintain and upgrade as i feel fit, she purchased the original computer i upgraded all the memory and the cd-rom to dvd-rom, full size to flat screen, wired net to wireless router ect. ect. so yeah i hate to say it but cute and pretty is a big factor... as most guys will admit almost nothing a girl purchases is for its power, integrity or strength. so i have to deal w/ it and altho it was cheap it was a pretty good buy for her to make the deal prior to me. so yeah i orderd power supply after trying all the information provided and hopefully this will work.
