    Hello all,
Ony my last motherboard I used motherboard monitor 5 which showed the case temp and the processor temp.
About a month ago I upgraded to the Asus A7N8X-X.
Initially I used the Asus probe facility to keep track of my temperatures but it started playing up so i uninstalled it.
I have now installed MBM5 again but I'm confused over the readings in the system tray.
It shows the case temp as 24C, Cpu socket as 39C and the Cpu diode as 59C. It is a hot day today but which reading am I supposed to be concerned about? The Cpu diode or the Cpu socket.
I have a case fan sucking in at the front, another blowing out at the rear plus an exhaust fan lower down at the back of the case. The Cpu heatsink and fan is a coolermaster rated up to XP3200. I used to run this on my old xp1400 as that used to get hotter that Britney.
    My system specs are below

(Shrug) ... nothin to get horribly worried over. I'd go back to the ASUS Probe :) Although its a tad warm, its not dangerously so :)

    Thanks Praetor,
but which one is giving the cpu reading that I need.
My xp1400 used to run at 47-48c, my xp2400 ran at approx 38c but I don't know which one of these readings to go by.
If my cpu is up near 60 then I need better cooling.
If it's the lower number then I'm quite happy.

I would imagine the "case temp" as being the "bottom" temperature sensor, the "cpu socket" being the case temp near the PSU and the actual chip temp being the CPU diode.

Doesn't matter now. I Put a new 160Gig Seagate in, re-installed Xp and the Asus probe seems to be working ok. Showing the Cpu as 40c and the case 21c. Happy now.
    Thanks for your help Praetor.
