McAfee problems deleting a file..

    originally my problem began with the blaster worm where it
    it gives me a count down that my computer will shut off..
    i got that cleared ...

    and them i got a two problems with my McAfee...

    I can't delete the following

    first problem.....

    mcAfee.com personal firewall plus

    Application Wants to Access the Internet

    the program [bold]Perfhmon.exe [/bold]is requestiong access to the internet. Do you want to allow it?

    [bold]Path:[/bold]C:\WINDOWS\system32\Perfhmon.exe

    Mcafee…
    Does not recognize this application.

    Second problem......

    A Virus Has been detected!

    The file [bold]C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PERFHMON.EXE[/bold] is infected by the
    [bold]Exploit-Lsass.gen[/bold]virus and cannot be cleaned.

    can you guys please help me remove this

    out of my computer...

    Try booting in safe mode & try to delete the file then. I have numerous drives in my PC, so if I get a problem like that, I boot up in another HD, then access the master drive - through "my computer" - & delete the file. The reason that you cannot delete it in normal circumstances is because the bogus file uses certain resources to run, & informs windows of such. So you cannot delete it. If you start in safe mode, then only necessary systems are booted, so you can usually delete the file, as it is not actually running & using the essential resources.
    Hit F8 when your PC is booting up to go to safe mode.

    I think it is F8 anyway! I read someone here hits F5 to get into safe mode. So I am not sure!
    Failing that, when the machine is booting up, hit the reset button & it will re-boot, then you should come to a menu that gives you the option to start in safe mode.

    f8 or ctrl do get into safemode

    maybe try one of the free online virus scans available.
    might have beter luck cleanng the virus than your current scanner.
