I wonder if anyone can help planning to upgrade dell dimension 8200 P4 1.7/ 384ram/ 2 hauppauge PVR150/ 250 seagate hard drive/ 384ram/ 1 dvdcd rom / and 1 dvdrw and oem media center 2005. I believe my video card is 32MB I believe this may become a problem. I can't seem to find the minimum requirements. B4 I load operating system. staying at minimum is not the real issu. Just need some help My pockets aren't empty yet just don't want to make costly mistakes
The minimum requirements are the same as your ordinary XP. However, if you want to do more, your best options are a faster CPU, more RAM,...and obviously...a better vid card. In this case, a really decent 6800GS is going for about $200.00. 384Mb of Ram, is just toppin the bare minimum...might want to jump that up to at least 512, if not 1G. Ram prices are getting better daily.
