Ok I don't know anything about this stuff so this is probably a stupid question but I don't know. Ok I was gonna buy a new computer and the main reason really was because I wanted a media center pc so I could do stuff with my xbox 360 and my media center pc and I found this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16832102357

is that just a disc or is it something you have to put in your computer and if it is do you have to build a whole new computer or can I just add it in mine and get rid of windows xp like i said I don't know anything about this so please help THANKS!

    Lol forgive me bro...

Yeah that's just discs. It will install windows xp media center edition operating system on your pc.And yes that's what you need to use the additional xbox 360 features.

You will need a pc but that's common sense. If you already have another operating system on your pc(xp,me,2000,) you will need to uninstall it first before you can install a new one.The package probably includes all instructions(this is microsoft lol). Also if you have the original discs that came with your pc one of those will uninstall your current os.

It's also called reformatting etc.DO NOT REMOVE THE OS UNTIL YOU GET YOUR NEW OS.or you will be left without a pc for days.If you have trouble or questions ask and if I'm around I'll try to answer them.

I do not know how to hook up an Xbox, but am very familiar with that version of Windows.
Does the Xbox have to come through a TV card or can it be piped in through input on some video cards? Media center has a whole section built in for TV tuners (It doesnt like using 3rd party software, only lets you record in a certain format, driver conflicts, etc.) but If your Xbox doesnt need the tuner card to connect, you wouldnt have to use that part of it.

@AxFactor You do NOT need a tv tuner period.

@Deadrum33 you are way.... way of base.XBOX 360 hooks up to windows media center via a network connection. Were are NOT talking about playing xbox on your monitor or your pc.

@3085 yes your correct! an ethernet cable or wireless network will do just fine.Yeah you just install the disc's and then you have a windows media center pc.That is all that's required to use the xbox live features. It should come with instructions and you will need to uninstall your current os too.

I'm sorry your freinds stole from you. They should be punched In the face and kicked in the balls. But it doesn't matter you don't need a new pc just those discs and your current pc to have media center.

tycobb---Glad to know that was all that is needed.
Sounds like something Microsoft could make unnecesserily complicated. The bad experiences I had with Media Center OS might not apply since running different applications.
